OMG! Just met an Elephant

Updated: Jan 25

My inner child was over excited to meet and interact with the beautiful giants at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary. It was one of those surreal moments, when you're living out one of your childhood dreams.

I booked the feed and shower package online which included my transport, entry and light food and drinks. After arriving at the sanctuary, we were given a briefing before beginning the activities. The whole experience was transformative and grounding, just being present in the moment was a feeling like no other. Check out my TikTok and Instagram page from my Thailand travel vlog.

I had researched before booking to ensure this was an ethical company, that allows me to see, interact and respect elephants and their space. It's essential you do your research before visiting, to ensure the animals are not being mistreated or abused. I booked the feed and shower package which was around £42. There are much cheaper companies to go with, however their company values, did not align with my moral compass.

The staff were extremely friendly; they showed us how to make the elephant food and explain how to safely feed them. The first elephant I interacted with was also named Jasmine...guess who found their twin? Jasmine was only 14 and was the youngest, compared to some of the older elephants, like Natalie, who was 73 years old!

I really appreciated that each elephant had a personal caretaker responsible for maintaining their health. The whole experience was very grounding and transformative, I will forever hold it dearly to my heart. It was very important to respect their space and be mindful of not engaging in unethical company practices.

If you are travelling to Thailand or anywhere else, please DON'T ride the elephants! I know it might look fun, but it can be very harmful to the animals. We do not condone elephant riding, there are so many other ways you can responsibly interact with them. Please make sure you do your research to avoid causing any further harm to these beautiful creatures. Check out my 10 day itinerary blog for other activities to try.

Traveling solo is such an exhilarating adventure! Sure, it can feel a bit overwhelming when you're trying to capture those unforgettable moments all by yourself. But it's all about embracing that confidence! I was thrilled when friendly staff members eagerly offered their assistance. Plus, I managed to snap most of my photos during the trip with the help of a nifty tripod and its handy little remote, letting me capture each moment with just the click of a button!

I was so happy to have been apart of this day, knowing that the money benefits the lives of all the elephants and workers, this truly goes full circle. I would strongly recommend visiting elephant jungle sanctuary for anyone looking for their next big adventure.
