If you are looking for a nice all you can eat buffet, head down to K-Town in Malden where you're allowed to cook your own Korean meat from the comfortability of your own table for all my hungry belly people.
We were a large group of 9, we came to celebrate my sister's birthday. This place was super popular, so I'd recommend booking in advance. Before you are seated, you must pay your bill and you can also order drinks. Due to it being a time limited booking, you have 90 minutes (about 1 and a half hours) to sit, eat and drink. Some of the seats also had a place for you to store your bags and jackets, that way they don’t end up smelling like smoke.
I started with some chicken wings, soya and spicy flavored, with a side of fried rice and noodles. I then moved on to the meat selection, you are meant to take a meat plate and pick out the cuts of meat you want to cook on your BBQ grill. I chose some beef short ribs, diced lamb chunks and some marinated chicken. There was a nice selection of beef, lamb, seafood, chicken and pork to choose from... my niece even had octopus, not being a sea-food fan, I did not have anything fish-oriented, but the rest of the adults loved the freshness of the fish.
I love how everyone can cook their meat to their preferred taste and we each had our own tongs and scissors to handle the meat. The staff would regularly be swapping out your hot grill plate, to prevent smoke from building up from the meat. There was also a lovely selection of soya sauce, wasabi, oils and other spices which you could use to complement your plate. Additionally, there was a sushi area, salad bar, hot food dishes that all get replenished frequently.
There was a small selection of desserts, fruits, ice cream and ginger cake slices but it was quite limited and nothing special. Overall, I’d rate this restaurant, food and value for money as an 8/10. I really loved how you could cook your own meat and season it to your desired rawness and spice level. The dessert was disappointing, but I did not go there for a sweet treat and the atmosphere was quite chilled. Click here to see my full review of K-Town on my Instagram. A recommendation the restaurant could make would be to provide a bigger range of rice and noodle selection, as well as making meat-filled dumplings.
It is a perfect spot for a date night with your partner, group of friends, family or work colleagues for good food and good vibes. I will defiantly be returning when I’m next down in New Malden. The train station is literally across the road from the restaurant and there are also a few parking spaces outside, so it's super easy to get to. The place was also able to accommodate a wheelchair at the table, although the main entrance is quiet narrow and is a tight squeeze.
