This is a MUST try, unlimited cake and coffee experience for 1.5 hours for only £29! Make sure you add this to your bucket list for London's hidden dessert spots.
Jack and Beyond is located in Battersea high street, and it did not disappoint. I booked this for my friends pre-birthday celebrations and a time was had. We went for the cake and hot drink package, which worked out pretty good value for money. This whole cake tasting experience, was us living out our childhood dreams, being able to taste everything in the shop for one price. We started off by tasting seven different slices of cakes, this by far was one of the best desserts experiences I've had in London. There was a clear winner, the lemon and blueberry cheese cake was exquisite, the texture of soft creaminess and crumble melted in my mouth. All you cheesecake lovers look no further, because she is a beauty, it will make you do your little "happy dance" after you try it. This was an easy 10/10, the flavors were immaculate, compliments to the baker.
Rate the cake:
1st - Lemon and blueberry cheese cake 10/10
2nd -Choco and peanut butter banana cake 8.5/10
3rd - Carrot cake 8/10
4th - Double chocolate 8/10
5th - Red velvet 7.5/10
6th - Raspberry and pistachio 5/10
7th - Strawberry and cream 4/10
We ordered ourselves some specialty lattes which were stunning. I had the blue chai and Vee had a pink beetroot and ginger latte. Not only were they aesthetically pleasing, you could really appreciate the unique flavors in both the lattes and the thicken velvety consistency.
We decided to ordered two rounds of hot drinks, which was included in our package. I indulged in a hot chocolate, it was very rich. Next time I will choice the milk chocolate, as apposed to the dark as I found the the flavor quite overpowering. To counter balance all the sweetness, I finished up with English breakfast tea to compliment my cheesecake slice. My friend picked the citrus sunset - a fruity herb tea that was basically a tropical vacation in a cup. Each sip was a tiny moment of joy, a flavorful memory to add to our many more years of friendship.
The chocolate and peanut butter banana cake was lush, it was moist on the inside and each mouthful was an explosion of sweetness. At joint third place, the carrot and double chocolate cake stood out. The carrot cake was spongy and not too dense, the cream cheese frosting was the perfect balance. Whereas the double chocolate was rich in darkness and elegance- the missing element was a dollop of silky cream to enhance the experience further.
While the red velvet slice surprised me, the cake tasted average - unpopular opinion, but red velvet cake is overrated, it's literately just chocolate cake with red food dye. The raspberry and pistachio cake was underwhelming. I was really looking forward to tasting this, leaving me slightly disappointed in the lack off flavors and excitement, ultimately landing it a 5/10. Moving on to the seasonal cake option on the menu, the strawberry and cream cake was not it for me, earning it last place with a 4/10. Usually, I love me a Victoria sponge with fresh cream but the cake was dried out and I felt there needed to be some more jam.
Overall, Jack and Beyond offer customers a fun experience to share with friends and loved ones. There is limited space inside but there is more seating outside and on a nice sunny day, it is perfect for a cake and coffee date. Don't walk, run... make sure you check them out and enjoy some cake and coffee over good company. I absolutely loved every single second of out time spent at Jack and Beyond.
