When travelling, eating out or buying new clothes, you have to be a bit savvy, especially in today's economy. I'm here as you are budgeting money finance guru on how to make your money work for you, without comprising on that luxury feel.

When abroad, always find the exchange rate in your own country's currency and see the conversion rate before you leave. Here's a tip, it's always cheaper to make purchases in the currency of the country which you're visiting. When I was in Mexico, they took payment in Mexican peso or US Dollars. Wrapping your head around the foreign exchange rate can sound overwhelming, but if you change some money up beforehand, regularly check the exchange rate market on google and make sure you have a bank or credit card that allows you to make international payments, you'll be all set.
To avoid being charged international exchange rates on each transaction, it's better to have cash in hand and only use debit or credit cards for extra purchases. That way you can comfortably budget on your travel, without spending too much.

Friendly tip, here in the UK Monzo Bank allow their customers to withdraw or spend their first £200 internationally without incurring charges. So, if you don't have that bright pink Monzo card already, don't walk.... RUN.
